Pros and cons of TuneLink app for iPhone and iPad

TuneLink app good for

I picked this FM tuner up at Best Buy because I was fed up with cheap FM tuners that just dont work. It just works. The app is brilliant and the automatic stop and restart is still completely remarkable. I cant believe how seamlessly it all works. Great job TuneLink! You better win some serious awards for this.
This app-cessory and app are amazing. I live in Toronto where there are limited available stations. This will find the best station by GPS or any one of my choice. The app does not need to be open to use my GPS app, or the iPod music. Music automatically starts up in the car, and shuts down when I turn the car off. The app-cessory is small and works perfectly for my console, of which I have a manual transmission, so the other devices were far to clunky and always in the way. This thing works waaay better than my $100 Belkin FM tranmitter ever did...and now I have no annoying cord to deal with. Works exactly the way its shown on the website, and better! If youre looking for an FM transmitter for your devices for your car, dont hesitate to get this one.
ios 7 upgrade ? There bluetooth audio transmission so choppy and deductions.
Definitely the best solution for listening to my iPads music in my car over FM (and Ive tried several...). The fifth star is still missing because I believe the RDS feature could be improved, as it only shows one word of the songs title, and one word of the artists name, whereas it would be nicer if it scrolled, allowing me to see the whole of the information on the radio LCD... The only other improvement could be to make it a universal app, and perhaps add a gesture or two to allow for song skips (forward/backward) without having to look at the screen to find the playback buttons. Keep up the GREAT work! 

Some bad moments

Since IOS6 - Does not work at all Blue tooth got disconnected after a few seconds… Many other Bluetooth audio devices just still works… so not sure the issue is on IOS side. Just useless
Bought the app-cessory at best buy mobile at square one. It never worked properly. I followed the instructions to a tee. It paired with the iPhone the first time. Then I downloaded the app and it just didnt work. Sure the display said it was broadcasting on 88.1 but it was nothing but static when I ran the iPod app and switch the output to Bluetooth. Then, all hell broke loose. Bluetooth disconnected on its own and refused to reconnect after a number of times I turned off/on my car. I had to delete the bt device and re-pair from scratch. The app kept saying the device was off-line despite it being paired and connected. Did a full iPhone reset, deleted the bt device, shut the car down. Tried again, failed. Did this for 2 hours to no avail. This thing just refused to work.
It is nice that there a USB port on the TuneLink so the phone can be charged while playing. The sound quality is pretty good. Downside: after about 40 seconds the TuneLink disconnects with a note that the iPhone doesnt support this device. I and a friend have tried every problem solving tactic out there. The company finally told me that they sometimes have trouble with Apple. It would be good if they could fix this bug.
After a few months the app can no longer connect to the corresponding hardware. Makes it pretty much useless.
Have tried and tried to get this thing to work on my iPhone 4S but just wont link to my iPhones Bluetooth. It worked a couple of times after plugging in and out, turn phone off, rebooting phone, now I get nothing at all. I contacted New Potato support and all they could tell me is what I had already done. DO NOT BUY!!! DOES NOT WORK WITH IPHONES. Waisted my hard earned $$$
My TuneLink Auto used to be really great. Its degraded over the last few months, and now it very rarely works for more than a few seconds, if it all. So, I checked the App Store for an update. Looks like it has not been updated in the last 5 years. 5 years is a very, very long time in mobile technology. TuneLink used to be the best thing on the market. Maybe the developer forgot about it, and their customers?
